Last night I attended Open Mic at La Rounge Lounge.  It started off a bit slow so I used that time to get to know some of the artists. Publicware which consist of Oz the Finale and K-Shiz a duo out of East Orange was in the building.  These two gentlemen was cool to talk to they was telling me how they are opening up for The God Mc Rakim in August. K- Shiz was freestyling I asked him to show he said ” Just do it” lol im to shy for that!   The Ghetto Preacher Mad Minista X spit a poem to me called ‘ Women’s Worth’ he spit it with such passion its clear and obvious that he loves what he do. As time goes by more people started to come in. DJ Spunk and DJ June held the crowd down with the music.  Hip-Hop Student Association The Honorable Tarrick was entertaining the crowd with his bars he host and rhyme what a talent young man he is. The Open Mic was the first segment.  A bunch of rappers got on the Mic whatever the beat dropped was the beat they was spitting to. King Mark was the first to go then my new found friend Oz went and did his thang among other rappees! Now for the performance my favorite Ol’ man Grumpy was the first to set it off and man he did just that! Grumpy don’t perform with just his voice he performs with his body THIS GUY DOES NOT SIT STILL! He all over the place lol shout out to Tonia Champagne and Maliq Fam Biz for stopping through. Young Skoe cool looking self came through and Put the Pressure to these mother f***!  Now, when you hear the word minister you automatically think preaching and gospel not the case with this guy The Ghetto Preacher Mad Minister X performed “All The World Wants” He to performs with such passion and energy  Overall it was a good event shout to all the artists that perform! Next Monday it goes all the way down again!

Yesterday I went to Beats with Friends Showcase. Beats with Friends is a platform that was created by Money Long Media. In this particular event producer’s from all over come to show their creativity. My famliy came from Brooklyn to Newark. Team Knock leading lady Zoom Zoom beats definitely showed up and showed out she was not trying to get off the stage lol. Lyve1oh did his thang as well all the producer’s did.I will admit the turn out could have been better.  It only only four producer’s and a handful of audience members.  Its okay though because we still rocked out and besides it was more food for us lol. To top it off the legendary Buckwild came through and showed some love. Beats with Friends is a monthly showcase. So if you miss this one be sure to catch the next one.

Queen Sass is DEFINITELY in the building!  I first seen this little lady perform in New York ever since then I’ve been hooked! Not only can she spit her ass off but she can perform her ass off just as well. Its going down immediately when you hear the beat to ” New Shit” It gets your ready for J-Sass dope ass rhyme. You can’t help

When you talk about Virginia Hip-hop the names The Clipse, The Neptunes, Missy Elliott and Timberland is who you automatically think of. Well, I am here to let you know that Lynchburg, VA got some hip-hop brewing.  Rose Red recently released ” Through My Eyes”  Rose Red has a dream like Martin but putting in work like Malcolm.  Being a women in hip-hop that’s exactly what you have to do put In that work. This is a song that I can listen and relate to. Its the right beat with right bars Rose Red will definitely make presence felt in the Virgina hip-hop scene and then some.

September 13th its GOING ALL THE WAY DOWN!  On this day The 3rd Female Hip-hop Honor Awards will be taking place.Legendary females emcees such as Sparky D, Chi-Town’s own Da Brat, West Coast’s Oaktown 357 and Philly brethren Charli Baltimore will be this year’s honorees. The lovely Miss Shylise Simpson will be presenting the honorees with their award This event is going to be hosted by Rodney Perry and Melanie Camarcho. Trust and believe this is an event you DO NOT WANT TO MISS! Its going to be laughter and some great performances.  P.s it’s a red carpet event with that being said Y’all better cop them tickets now and book your flight and hotel room early! September 13 Warner Grand Theatre Los Angles,  California. I am going to let y’all get a little taste of what’s to come.

Monday June 23rd and every Monday after that La Rouge Restaurant and Lounge located 972 Broad St Downtown Newark, NJ is the place to be! If your looking to show off your talent then this open mic is definitely the go to place you never know who is going to be in the buliding. Dope music and dope talent.
